Keith Tacy

Keith Harold Tacy, 81, of Overton, NV, passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2011. He was born Sept. 14, 1929 to Alva and Gilbert Tacy and was raised in Huttonsville, WV.

He graduated from Tygart Valley High School, Mill Creek, WV, where he starred in basketball. He married his high school sweetheart, Elouise Janet Ferrell on April 4, 1949. He was a retired Veteran of 20 years from the USAF as a chief clerk/auditor. His tour assignments took he and his family to Washington D.C., NC, SC, Japan, Fl, NM, with a remote tour in Greenland. He was a member of the Masons for 50 yrs., and lifetime member of the DAV and the VFW.

In his younger years, he built and raced stock cars on a dirt track in SC. While stationed in Japan (1948-52), he coached basketball and baseball for his base, winning the Far East Championship in both sports for 2 years. He remained active in sports, playing and coaching basketball, and softball. He loved nature, camping, hunting, fishing, golf, gardening, cooking, C & W music/dancing, entertaining and playing his guitar with friends.

Keith loved and honored his country, the military, his family and friends. He was a man of integrity, expecting excellence for himself and those who knew him. After 20 years of service, he retired from the military, moving his family to Las Vegas, NV, where he worked for Holmes & Narver as a Budget Analyst and then as an internal auditor for the Tropicana Hotel & Casino. He and his wife had a seasonal home at Stewart Point, overlooking Lake Mead, NV for over 30 years and a cabin in Panguitch Lake, UT.

He will be greatly missed as a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. He is preceded in death by father, Gilbert Lee Tacy and mother, Alva (Archer) Tacy, WV; sisters, Eileen Johnson & Donna Downward, IN; and brothers, Veryl, Tacy & Virgil Tacy, Sr., WV. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Elouise (Ferrell) of Overton, NV; 3 daughters, Linda Fairless, Overton, NV; Joyce (Phillip)Roberts , SLC, UT; and Sandra Graham (Steve), LV, NV; 9 grandchildren, Ron (Brenda) Fairless, Henderson, NV; Sondra Fairless (Matt) Martinez, NYC; Ted Roberts and Joshua Roberts, UT; Zachary Roberts, SC; Tara (Roberts) Clinton, Australia; Justin Graham, LV, NV; Jessica Graham, NY; Jennifer (Ahren) Hertel , Reno, NV; brothers Carl Tacy, NC and Buddy Tacy, WV; sisters Dolores (Tacy) Sainato, VA and Rudell (Tacy) Sommerville, WV; 5 great-grand children and 27 nieces and nephews.

A military service will be held Monday, April 4, 2011 at 10am at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Buchanan Blvd., Boulder City, NV 89005, under the direction of Boulder City Mortuary, 702.294.3000.
