Moapa Valley Progress

The Moapa Valley High School track teams traveled to Cheyenne High School in Las Vegas on Wednesday where the boy’s team finished second to Legacy who had 63 points and ahead of Cheyenne who had 51. The Pirates scored 57.

Cody Coburn finished third in the 100 meters at 11.4 seconds. Chase Witter won the 200 meters with a time of 22.7 then won the 400 meters at 50.7 seconds. Jeremy Waite 2:20 and Brenden Watkins 2:22 finished 3rd and 4th in the 800 meters. Josh Thompson ran the 1600 meters in 4:53 but sat out the 3600 after running a 2:02 split on the 3600 relay which the Pirates won with a time of 8:51. Bowen Call won both the 110 and the 300 hurdles with times of 17 and 42.9 seconds.

On the Girls side the Pirates took second place with 42 points to Cheyenne’s 59 and Legacy’s 33 points.

Freshman Tylee Evans won the 1600 meters with a time of 6:32. Ashley Noto won the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 17.7 seconds. Clelsea Olige won the triple jump with a distance of 26-9. Moapa won the 3600 meter relay with a time of 11:35.

The Pirates traveled to Boulder City for the Ron Resler Invitational on Friday. With 21 girl’s teams and 19 boy’s teams in the competition, the Pirates finished 6th in the Boy’s and 11th in the Girls.

The Women’s 4×800 Meter Relay finished 5th. The Moapa Valley time was 11:28.2. In the Women’s High Jump Chelsea Olige finished 5th with a distance of 4-10.00. The Women’s 100 Meter Hurdles saw Olige finish 6th. Her time was 17.97. Ashley Noto finished 8th with a time of 18.12. The Women’s Long Jump placed Malary Reid in 7th and a distance of 13-10.5. The Women’s Triple Jump had Chelsea Olige in 8th with a distance of 28-05.5. The Women’s Shot Put placed Shelbie Gray 4th chucking the shot 30-09.

The Men finished 4th in the 4×400 Meter Relay with a time of 3:34.96. The team consisted of Bowen Call, Parker Chappell, Zach Waite and Chase Witter. The Men’s 400 Meter Dash had Chase Witter in 5th with a time of 50.98 and Chase finished 3rd in the 800. His time was 1:59.76. Josh Thompson placed 2nd in the 1600 meters. His time was 4:27.38 then he finished 2nd again in the 3600 at 9:35.80. Bowen Call finished 6th in the 300 meter hurdles at 42.89. The 4×100 also placed 5th with their time being 45.58. That team consisted of Brandon Johnson, Riley Soloman, Hayden Cooper and Jimmy Martin.
