The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada was at Lin’s Marketplace in Overton on Saturday providing information to the community on its Club Ride Commuter Services Program. Kristin Slayton and Jen Armstrong from the RTC had a table set up outside the store with information on ridesharing in Moapa Valley.
Club Ride Commuter Services is a free program offered by the RTC that matches potential ridesharing individuals for commuting into Las Vegas or other areas. There are more than 20,000 commuters in the Ride Share database, many from Moapa and Moapa Valley. Ridesharing allows you to save money on gas, reduce wear and tear on your vehicle, and reduce maintenance costs.
The RTC estimates that nearly 700,000 more cars will be on the roads in Las Vegas over the next ten years. That means a lot more time will be spent in traffic unless better ways are spent to get to work. Club Ride works with employers and commuters to find cost-effective and hassle-free commutes.
Less cars on the road also equals less pollution in the air. Car Rides can help improve the region’s air quality. Sign up for ridesharing or more information at http://rtcsnv.com/clubride.
“Lots of information can be found on our website,” Armstrong said. “We already have a lot of people in this area signed up. The more we can get, the better it will be for everyone.”
