Moapa played host to the Spartans from Cimarron on Tuesday, April 5 where the Pirates were beaten by the bigger school 6-1. If it wasn’t for two errors in the first inning it could have been a different ending.

Moapa’s lone run came from Lane Stringham who hit a double to get the RBI. Stringham had two doubles in the game while Shane Terrill hit one also. Josh Repp took the loss. Moapa had a total of six hits to Cimarron’s ten.

The Spartans scored three in the first then one in the second. They finished the games scoring in the seventh with two more.

On Wednesday, April 6 Cheyenne came to town where the Desert Shield’s were shell shocked as Dylan Mortensen pitched a 5 hitter for the 6-3 Pirate win.

Conner Mortensen and Lawrence Villazcas each hit doubles as the Pirates opened up with 2 runs to take the lead 3-2 in the fourth and three more runs in the fifth to finish the Moapa’s scoring. Moapa had five hits with 4 errors in the game.

Thursday the Pirates returned to Vegas where they visited Sunrise Mountain High School and pounded out 19 runs to beat Sunrise 19-11. Jacob Repp, Josh Repp each had a double. Josh Repp had four RBIs. Sawyer Bullock hit two doubles and scored four runs while Kasen Hughes hit a triple and knocked in four runs. The Pirates scored three runs then five runs then three more runs in the first, second and third innings for an 11 to 5 led. Sunrise then erupted for five runs in the fourth to come within one run. Moapa scored four in the sixth and four more in the seventh.
