LETTER: Poor Coverage of The Clark County Rodeo

Upon reading the stories of the Progress coverage of the events at the Fair, the coverage of the rodeo was disappointing.

Here you have a pro rodeo, that was chosen to be included in the Wrangler Million Dollar Silver Tour, with a payback of over $200,000, and not one word of the sponsors who made the added money, or even the event possible.

The team roping teams that were local, and got there with sponsor money, was not mentioned either.

I can tell you that our local food and beverage businesses, our fuel stations & grocery store didn’t get visited by people coming to the Fair; Their businesses were profited by these PRCA cowboys & cowgirls, some of which were here for four days, and more.

The PRCA looks at stories written about their presence in towns where pro events are held, and although it’s the Fair’s choice to hold a sanctioned PRCA Rodeo, the least the local press can do is get and post the Go Round winners, and the money they won and do some homework on tour rodeos, and if the winners are currently in the top 15, which qualify for the NFR. Most of all the sponsors who make it all possible to promote the event.
