OBITUARY: Mary Stratton
Mary Truman Stratton, age 83, passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2011 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was born November 23, 1927 in Cedar City, Utah to William Jonathan and Marcia Simkins Truman. On December 22, 1951 she married Lloyd Wiltbank Stratton in Enterprise, Utah. On December 10, 1960 they were sealed in the St. George Temple.
Mary grew up in Enterprise. As a beautiful young lady, she was crowned as the “E” Day Queen and later as the first Miss Washington County Queen. After they were married they moved to Texas where Lloyd was assigned in the Navy. While he completed his military service she lived in Enterprise with her parents. After the Navy they settled in St. George until moving to Henderson, NV in 1965. In 1996, they retired to Logandale, Nevada.
Mary enjoyed sharing her many talents with others. She enjoyed cross stitch, growing flowers, and she was renowned for her cooking, especially her pies. She was the perfect grandmother and homemaker, always serving, always providing love and comfort.
Mary was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as relief society president, stake relief society presidency, primary teacher, librarian, Young Women’s Leader and Activity Day Leader.
Survivors include two sons and one daughter: Bruce (Debbie); Marcine (Keith) Neilson; Shane (Cheryl) all of Logandale, NV; eleven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and one brother, James (Joann) Truman of Washington, UT. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Malinda and Melody and one grandson.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 25, 2011 at the Logandale LDS Stake Center. Interment was in the Enterprise City Cemetery under the direction of Moapa Valley Mortuary. Friends and family are invited to sign the online guest book at www.moapavalleymortuary.com.
