“Southwest Visions” Of Local Artist To Be The May Exhibit At Lost City Museum

The Lost City Museum presents the art exhibit “Southwest Visions” by Joan Rainey Day. She will be showing her art in the museum gallery for the month of May.

Day’s art captures nature and wildlife in paintings, jewelry and other decorative media.

Day was born and raised in Paso Robles, California. She majored in zoology at Mills College in Oakland and minored in art. She also attended Cal Poly at San Luis Obispo where she studied biology and worked as a biological illustrator and wildlife artist. Day owned a wholesale wildlife jewelry business for over 25 years where she created many unique designs.

According to Day her purpose has always been to see as much of the beauty of our planet as possible and to inspire others to enjoy it as well. “Life is not measured by how many breaths you take, but rather by how many moments take your breath away,” she says.

Day is a local artist and has lived in the Moapa Valley for the last ten years. She has also painted nature murals which grace the walls of many homes and businesses. Her art has been featured in state parks, museums and galleries across the nation.

The Lost City Museum is open Thursday through Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Admission is $5.00; children and members enter free. For more information, please call the museum at (702) 397-2193.
