A Piece of Moapa Valley History Vanishes
The oldest pioneer home in Overton was bulldozed due to termite damage and structural weakness in the adobe walls of the two-story structure. In 1887, Brigham Whitmore built the farmhouse for his real estate holdings, which included most of Overton. In 1908 JP Andersen purchased the home. In 1914, Andersen gave the home to his son Fay and his new bride Carrie. The home, which was located in downtown Overton just east of the Moapa Valley Credit Union branch, remained in the Andersen family until it was purchased by the Moapa Valley Credit Union.

MVTAB Denies Logandale Shopping Center
The Moapa Valley Town Advisory Board voted to deny a zone change request from Max Maserang which would allow him to build a 217,000 sq ft shopping center in Logandale. In order to build the shopping center, the zoning would have to be changed from RA (residential agriculture) and RU (rural open land) to C2 (general commercial). Most of the over 100 people in attendance as well as the board were against the change.
