The Muddy River Bar and Grill in Moapa held its third annual Car Show on Saturday, May 7. While the show had a large crowd of spectators in attendance, there were relatively few car entries. About 15 cars were on display in the Muddy River parking lot during the show.

Herb Riggle, Manager of Echo Bay Marina, brought two boats to the show. One of the boats was Herb’s own custom-made racing boat.

Car Show organizer, Ben Paschal, blamed the sparse entries on other competing events in the region. The Mesquite Days parade and celebration was taking place the same day in Mesquite. In addition, other major car shows were taking place in the region. These things had syphoned off the car show exhibitors, Paschal said.

“It is disappointing because we did invest quite a bit into publicizing the show with car clubs and organizations all over the region,” Paschal said. “But no matter how hard you try to schedule, you can’t find a day when something else isn’t going on somewhere.”

Still the car exhibitors that showed up were die-hard and high quality. The Best of Show award went to Logandale resident Jim and Ada Jensen for their ‘65 Mustang: which has become a regular favorite at area car shows. The judges choice winner went to Ron Hodges for his “08 Mustang ROUSH . Contestants choice award was given to Doug and Kay Raemakewr for their “57 Chevy. The People’s Choice trophy was presented to Larry Maxwell for his vintage Pontiac entry. The Best of Bikes award went to Jeff smith for a custom Honda Chopper.

A crowd of local spectators showed up for the event and enjoyed good food and entertainment. The Muddy River staff were cooking up a special barbeque meal featuring a fantastic pulled pork sandwich. Live band Jerome Wedig performed classic rock tunes for the crowd. And Master of Ceremonies Bob Kuczera kept the crowd entertained. There were plenty of raffle prizes and door prize giveaways for people to win. And the weather was great.
