Moapa Valley Progress
After a week of being beaten badly by Boulder City, the MVHS baseball team returned home to take its frustrations out on Mojave High School and prepare for the regional tournament which will be hosted by the Pirates this Friday and Saturday. The baseball game between the Rattlers and Pirates lasted the five inning minimum in a Pirate victory of 20-4.
Shane Terril led the Pirate charge by going 4 for 5 and knocking in three runs. Josh Repp had a double and an RBI batting 3 for 5. Connor Mortensen was 2 for 3 with two doubles and three runs batted in. Sawyer Bullock also had a double as he went 3 for 4 and two runs knocked in. Moapa opened up a huge lead in the third inning as they scored 11 runs.
So here’s how the league finished and their seeding’s for the start of the southern tournaments. Boulder City is the top seed with a record of 6-2. They will play the winner of the 2nd seed Virgin Valley 5-3 and 3rd seed Moapa Valley 1-7 who play on Friday at 12:00 in Moapa. The second game will start at 3:00.
This is a double elimination tournament so at 6:00 the losers of game one and two will play with the winner advancing to Saturday’s championship while the loser will go home for the year.
A second game in the championship may be needed if the undefeated team loses. The first game on Saturday will be played at 10:00 am.
In the North. Sparks 10-2 and Lowry 12-3 play for a spot. Dayton 12-2 and Truckee 8-4 (last years state runner-up) plays for a spot and Elko 13-2 and Fallon 11-3 play for a spot. The winners qualify for the state tournament.
