MVHS Hosts Bushman Track Meet

Moapa Valley hosted the annual Grant Bushman Invitational Track Meet. Thirteen schools travelled from all over the State to compete in Moapa Valley for the last weekend of the regular season and get a warm-up for the next week’s regional championships.

Boulder city won both the boys and girls titles with the Pirate men following in second only four points back of the Eagles. The Pirate girls finished third behind Boulder and Virgin Valley.

Jimmy Martin and Cody Coburn finished in 6th and 7th place in the 100 meter dash for the Pirates.

In the 200 meters Irvin Torres finished in 7th.

Chase Witter won the 400 with a time of 50.25 while Cody Coburn finished in 8th.

The 800 saw Josh Thompson finish 2nd and Jeremy Waite finish 6th. Josh Thompson also won the 1600 meter run in 4:35.08. Jeremy Waite finished 4th in the same race. Thompson also won the 3200 meter run by twenty seconds with a time of 10:51.11.

Bowen Call finished 2nd in the 110 hurdles and 1st in the 300 hurdles. His winning time was 41.11.

Moapa’s 4X100 finished 4th. The 4X200 finished 2nd. The 4×800 dominated and won by thirty three seconds. The 4X400 finished 2nd.

In the field events Ryan Wright and Kelan Weiss finished 4th and 6th in the Shot put. Riley Soloman finished 5th in the Discus. Justin Boren finished 3rd in the pole vault. Zach Waite and Brandon Johnson placed 3rd and 6th in the long jump. It was Zach Waite finishing 2nd in the triple jump and Brandon Johnson finishing 4th.

On the girls side Ashley Noto finished 5th in the 100 meters.

Makenzie Bush placed 6th in the 200 meters.

Cille Kaiser took 6th in the 400 meters.

Tylee Evans won 6th in the 800 meters. Tylee Evans also took 6th in the 1600 meters with Shannon Tuttle taking 8th.

Chelsea Olige finished 3rd in the 100 meter hurdles.

Ashley Noto took 2nd and Malory Reid 8th in the 300 meter hurdles.

The girls 4X800 relay team finished 3rd.

In the field events: Kim Sprague finished 2nd and Shelbie Gray finished 3rd in the Shot put. Shelbie Gray finished 4th and Kim Sprague finished 6th in the Discus.

Chelsea Olige finished 2nd in the high jump.

Shannon Tuttle finished 6th in the pole vault.

Moapa got 4th and 5th place finishes by Chelsea Olige and Malory Reid in the long jump. Then 2nd and 5th by the same two in the triple jump.

Both teams travel to Boulder City on Friday and Saturday for the regional track and field championships. The boys are the defending champions and look good to repeat.
