American Legion Aux. Selects Girls State Delegation

The American Legion Auxiliary Diamond Jubilee Unit 75 of Logandale, Nevada is proud to announce that Kaycee Williams and Erin Whipple from Moapa Valley High School along withJennifer Brailey and Treashell Nicol from Virgin Valley High School will be attending NevadaGirls State in June this year.

Nevada Girls State is a week long study program in a camp setting, conducted by the American Legion Auxiliary, Department of Nevada. The program is for girls who have just completed their junior year in high school.

Throughout the week, the delegates hear from lawmakers, elected officials, and government personnel about their roles in government. They learn about the various elected and appointed offices on the city, county, and state levels, and participate in elections.

They also learn to write legislation and participate in a mock legislative session at the end of the week.

The cost of the program is $250.00 per girl and is paid for by American Legion Auxiliary Unit 75 with the help of donations from Moapa Valley Credit Union, NSEA, ESEA, and Sugars HomePlate Pennies for Girls State.
