Surrounded by her family, Barbara Hardy (center back row) accepts the 2011 Overton Lin’s Marketplace Mother of the Year award which was presented last week at the store.

Lin’s Marketplace announced the winner of its Mother of the Year contest drawing on Monday, May 9. This year’s winner is Barbara Hardy of Logandale. She was presented a special gift basket by Lin’s staff as her prize.

Barbara has four children, 14 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

“We’ve learned so much from her,” wrote family members in nominating Barbara for the honor. “She has been an awesome example of how to be a mom.”

The nomination also recognized Barbara’s “relentless years of humanitarian service making blankets, knitted hats and scarfs, school kits and baby kits” for those less fortunate or in need.

Barbara is also an excellent gardener and a great cook, her family wrote.
