The Moapa Valley High School Class of 2011 had the opportunity to show their stuff in a Senior Talent Show that took place in the Ron Dalley Theater on Thursday night, May 12 as part of the school’s M Week celebration. This annual variety show allows the graduating seniors to put on a final performance for classmates, underclassmen and parents.
As Masters of Ceremonies, Steven Abbott and Amanda Jacobsmeyer entertained the audience with amusing comments in between acts.
The opening act featured a string quartet made up of Alison Hardy (violin), Brittany Harding (violin), Marya Romero (viola), and Jessica Robison (cello) played a song which was arranged for the group by Romero.
Following them, Sawyer Bullock and Blake Gausen performed two vocal duets with Bullock on the guitar.
To the amusement of the audience, Cody Adams, dressed in flamboyant costume, sang a song and danced.
To calm things down a little, Adams then went to the piano to accompany the next number. Kimberly Sprague took to the stage wearing a black dress and green paint all over her face. Jordan Hardy joined her and together they sang a duet from the Broadway play “Wicked.”
Later in the show, Chelsea Olige, Molly Markestein, Shannon Tuttle, Caley Wilson, and Kaitlyn Cope dressed as the Spice Girls and did a dance to “Wannabe.”
Spencer Mackert brought down the house with a solo dance to “Boom Boom”.
Next MC’s, Abbott and Jacobsmeyer, performed a vocal duet of a song from the movie “Tangled.” Abbott accompanied Jacobsmeyer on the piano and Jacobsmeyer accompanied Abbott on the guitar.
Chad Doty sang a song while playing the guitar. Doty announced that the song was in memory of his aunt who had died years ago in a car accident. The song used the text of a poem written by his aunt.
Dressed as a diverse Harry Potter cast, Bowen Call, Natalie Rust, Ashlee German, Amanda Jacobsmeyer, Chase Witter, and Cole Witter performed an amusing reenactment of “Mysterious Ticking Noise” from the creators of the online sensation: Potter Puppet Pals.
A boy band calling itself “Out of Sync” performed last. Kelan Weiss, Hayden Cooper, Riley Solomon, Josh Thompson, Raymond Bellavance, Zachery Waite, Geof Hilton, and Bowen Call danced to “Bye, Bye, Bye” with an energetic dance they choreographed themselves. The dance ended with enthusiastic screams from the audience.
