Fatal Accident On Lake Northshore Road

A man was killed and eight others injured when an SUV spun out of control and rolled over onto the side of the road along the Lake Mead North Shore Road just south of the newly constructed bridge near mile marker 43.

The driver, who was the man killed, was ejected from the vehicle, according to Park officials.

The accident occurred around 6:15 p.m. Responding to the scene were volunteers from Overton Station 74 and Logandale Station 73. Officials closed both sides of the North Shore road for a time.

In addition to the fatality, two passengers were transported by helicopter to UMC and six others were transported by ambulance. The injured included two infants and five other children ranging from 8 to 16-years-old. All of the passengers were from North Las Vegas, officials said.

According to officials, speed was a factor in the accident. Open containers of alcohol were also found at the scene.
