LETTER: M.V. Blvd Now Narrower Than Ever

For over a year I waited while Moapa Valley Blvd. was cut up, turned into a torture track and was like a scene from Dangerous Drives. It was going to be worth the wait, though, as the finished road was to be paved from side to side in new smooth asphalt.

Now I didn’t really think it would include a pedestrian and bike lane but at least there would be room for safety. Instead the sides have been ground down into loose gravel and the road surface seems to be narrower than ever before.

There are a lot of people walking and biking in the valley now. The Blvd. is a natural course to take. Any one that has ridden along there knows about close calls. If you have children riding, keep them away.

If you’re in doubt about the danger, try it. Ride a bike from Lin’s to Wally’s sometime. You will fear for your life.

Now I see the brilliance in not paving side to side. Instead of a Ped. and bike LANE, a paved PATH separated from traffic by a safe distance. A safe cool concrete path along the Blvd.

Without it, an accident is just waiting to happen.

Call Las Vegas Paving instead of making the complaint in the paper. It doesn’t do you any good to do so.
