Local Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 8336 quartermaster Bruce Hollinger of Logandale was recently elected state commander, the first local post member to reach Nevada’s highest VFW position.
Hollinger, a decorated Navy pilot of the Vietnam War, with other elected officers will oversee the operations of Nevada’s 39 VFW posts that boast more than 7,000 members. His wife, Kathy Hollinger, is secretary of Nevada’s VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
In two other recent milestones involving Post 8336, which will celebrate its 65th anniversary in September, Commander Charlie Jamison was elected state chaplain adding to his responsibilities as VFW District 6 chaplain, and Post Service Officer Chuck Riley was elected commander of District 6.
VFW District 6 covers all the posts and territory from Mesquite to Laughlin.
