Elsie the Borden Cow Visits Overton
Elsie the Cow, mascot for Borden Dairy, and her five week old calf, Beau visited Dan’s Foodtown in Overton as part of a nationwide tour of stores selling their dairy products. They started out at corporate headquarters in Columbus, OH, in an air conditioned coach.

From Progress: July 24, 1991
Old Main Street Home Bulldozed
Bulldozers demolished an old home located on Moapa Valley Blvd earlier this week. Ben and Mildred Robison built the house during the early part of the century. Part of the old structure served as Overton’s Post Office for years while Mildred was Postmaster. The vacant land will be paved for parking for Richard Barnes’ new office complex on the corner of Main Street and Virginia.

Dedication of Moapa Ward
The Moapa Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was dedicated with many fun activities, including an open pit barbecue dinner, pie eating contest, and a horse race. There was also volleyball for the kids and a hot chili eating contest.

Saturday night’s events wound down with square dancing and a fireworks display.
