Louise Kelly, age 88, passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2011 in Phoenix, AZ. The day was hers and Lonnie’s 70th wedding anniversary. Louise was born October 24,1922 in Kansas City, MO. On August 3, 1941 she married Lonnie D. Kelly in Kansas City, MO. He preceded her in death on June 6, 1987.
They moved to Las Vegas, NV in 1973 and then to Overton, NV in 1980. Since 1960 she had her home business of dressmaking and alterations. She sewed everything from fly nets for horses to wedding gowns.
Louise enjoyed riding horses and participating in Tanglewood gymkhanas. She always claimed she wasn’t the fastest, but the oldest!
Louise carried the American Flag in the grand entry of the Logandale Rodeo.
Survivors include her daughter Kim May of Phoenix, AZ, grandchildren; J.C. and Tracee May, also Kelly Holmberg, Johnna Sherman, and J.R. Sherman of Kansas City, MO and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her oldest daughter, Delouise Sherman.
Funeral services were held at Daisy Mountain Ward in New River, AZ Monday August, 8 and also in Overton, NV on Tuesday August 9, 2011. Interment will be in the Pioneer Hill Cemetery under the direction of Moapa Valley Mortuary. Friends and family are invited to sign the online guest book at www.moapavalleymortuary.com.
