The Overton Senior Center has received a new 12-seat transport vehicle that was donated recently by Silver Rider, a local transportation company, according to Chris Trombley, Senior Center director.

The new white Ford diesel transport is ADA-equipped which means it can handle wheelchairs, she said. The vehicle, which is in excellent condition, was previously used by Silver Rider in another area of Clark County.

“It has a power lift to help load passengers in wheelchairs and there are locks in the floor onto which the chairs can be secured,” Trombley said. “It can carry 12 regular passengers or nine regular passengers and two wheelchairs.”

Use of the van/bus is currently very limited because there are only two volunteer drivers licensed for the vehicle and one driver is used only infrequently, Trombley said.
