New Pizza Place Coming Soon in Overton
Don Luigi’s Pizza is currently under construction in the Overton Business Plaza at 145 S. Moapa Valley Blvd. The owners were adapting the spot that used to be the home of Checks N Mail into a restaurant. They were installing a kitchen facility complete with a double deck pizza oven.

A Change of Menu
Due to health problems, the owners of La Fuente Mexican Restaurant had gone out of business. In its place, Good Friends Family Restaurant was opening in Logandale. The new proprietors were natives of Hong Kong. Their family operated several asian cuisine restaurants in California and Nevada. They were to specialize in Chinese and American food.

LDS Stake Center Approved
The MVTAB approved a conditional use permit for the construction of a new Stake Center for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The new chapel was to be constructed between Logandale and Overton on the south side of State Route 169 (SW of Gladys’ Beauty Shop). The 26,000 sq ft building would be placed on four acres of land. The steeple was proposed to be 76 ft above the ground.

Registered Voters Increase
Eligible voters for the primary election on September 2 increased by approximately 11 percent over the previous two years. The big gain in registered voters for the Virgin and Moapa Valleys was Mesquite with a 19 percent increase. In Overton the increase was 11 percent, on par with the entire Clark County. Logandale had an increase of 16 percent.
