LETTER: Subsidizing Big Banks….Again!

Once again the lowly tax payer is being asked to subsidize the high and mighty banks. If the OPD budget problem is foreclosed homes, then I suggest a sliding scale for the base rate. Any meter which records less than minimal usage should be charged a much higher base rate with no change in the base rate for occupied homes.

Let the banks “pay the expense of keeping the foreclosed home on the grid and keep it supplied with potential peak demand power.” I am sick and tired of supporting these fat cat Wall-Streeters. It’s bad enough when Washington does it, but it’s unconscionable when a local entity robs me to support the same banks.

I am not sure if this glossy whitewash of an article is a press release or just a good old boy free pass. Exactly how many positions have been eliminated? Are wages frozen or reduced? Why is it necessary to maintain two Taj-Mah-Electric buildings and two staffs?

What is the spread between purchased power and resale of unused KWs? How does this compare with regional averages?

There seem to be more questions than answers here. Except the one inescapable fact that we are once again paying the banks for their mismanagement.
