I’d like to comment on an interesting choice of words in the article “OPD Board Considers Rate Increase” (Progress: Aug. 24, 2011). The article reads, “Monthly power bills for average residential customers using 1600kWh per month is currently $151.07 in the OPD system. This is somewhat higher than the lowest provider, Dixie Escalante, which is currently at $90.50 per month. But it is well below that of NV Energy, serving urban Las Vegas, with an average power bill of $197 per month.”
A difference of +$60.57 is considered “somewhat higher” while the difference of -$45.93 is declared “well below?” Can anyone spell SPIN?
