LETTER: Community Spirit Award
Ah Wednesdays! A day when I actually look forward to getting the mail because I know that there will be something other than bills and junk mail—the Moapa Valley Progress!
My daughter was with me a few weeks back when I picked up the mail on a Wednesday and I commented, “I love our paper!” When she asked why, I responded that, for starters, it is the perfect size—I can usually read the whole thing before the next one arrives, unlike when I lived in big cities and the papers pile up.
“But mainly,” I said, “it fosters so much community spirit!”
I can find out what’s going on around the valley and be a part of it if I choose to. I can find out about friends I haven’t seen for awhile when I see their babies and grandbabies pictures or read about them sending off a missionary or serviceman/woman. From the obituaries I can know when families are grieving. I can see so much evidence of service, caring and giving done by individuals, organizations and businesses in our blessed valley.
The Progress helps me feel connected to the people who live here. Thank you Moapa Valley Progress!
