LETTER: Why Cut Foster Grandparent Program?

With the Clark County Schools being in the crises of budget cuts, classes have doubled up. Art classes have been taken away and music classes cut. Please tell me how they can make the decision to cut the Foster Grandparent Program. How can I be a monetary burden to the CCSD budget when I was paid by Catholic Charities?

I know I have helped a lot of children to learn the three R’s in the three years that I have been at Grant Bowler Elementary. I also know I helped children have a better attitude in school. I really enjoy the children and how I help them. I also know I have been a help to the teachers in the classes I have been in.

It is totally wrong being in the middle of someone’s fight without being asked to be put there. If someone is going to take away a program that has been a help for over 25 years, and something I really enjoy doing, then I have a right to voice my opinion to the people who have made this decision and the parents of the children I could still be helping.
