Jack Carter Speaks to Local Rotarians
Jack Carter, Democratic candidate for US Senate and son of former President Jimmy Carter, addressed the Moapa Valley Rotary club at its weekly breakfast meeting on Wednesday, August 30.
“You are the people that I am trying to meet in this campaign,” Carter told the Rotarians. “Businessmen, small town leaders: these are the people I am interested in talking to.”

Mack Lyon Yearbook Staff Wins Award
Yearbook students from Mack Lyon Middle School recently attended a 3-day yearbook workshop in Las Vegas. The Lyon staff won an extra 16-page color insert for the yearbook based on projects they created during the workshop.

Drill Team Super Star Winners
The Moapa Valley Pirate Motion Drill Team traveled to Weber State College for a drill team/dance camp. KC Kinsley, Sara Scanlon, Kelly Williams, and Tina Leavitt won the opportunity to travel to either Ireland or Hawaii to dance with other winners of the Super Star award. Tina Leavitt will be traveling to Ireland to participate in St. Patrick’s Day festivities, while Kinsley, Scanlon, and Williams will be traveling to Hawaii to dance in the Aloha Bowl around the winter holidays.
