In Elko Lowry shut out Elko last Friday night with a score of 25-0. Lowry stays undefeated on the season at 5-0 overall and 3-0 in league.

In the league standings the Buckaroos are in second place because Truckee has one more league win than they do at 4.

Jace Billingsley took his rushing show to Elko and rushed for 274 yards on 26 and scored 3 touchdowns. Johnny Hernandez also ran for 112 yards and picked up the final Lowry touchdown. Francisco Lievanos had 24 carries for 143 yards but Elko couldn’t muster any touchdowns on the night.

Elko is now 2-2 with losses to both Truckee and Lowry. Elko travels to South Tahoe while Lowry hosts Sparks.

In Truckee, Spring Creek fumble the ball 4 times in the first quarter. Truckee busted the game open early taking a 40-0 lead at the half. They then held the Spartans to a field goal for a 40-3 win and 28th in a row. Their last loss came at the hands of Moapa in the 2008 State Championship game.

Ryan Hoyos was held to 35 yards and fumbled three times. Truckee’s Cole Roberts rushed for 82 yards and two touchdowns in the victory.

Truckee travels to Fernley next Friday and is 4-0 and in first place in the north.

In Sparks Shawntrell Hubbard rushed 10 times for 254 yards and 2 touchdowns as the Green wave from Fallon beat the Railroaders in Sparks 51-21.

After Sparks took a 7-0 lead Fallon rolled up 36 unanswered points then cruised for the win. Sparks 0-5 on the season couldn’t do much offensively.

Fallon is 2-2 and is at Spring Creek next week. Sparks on the other hand will most likely receive their 6th loss in Lowry.

In Dayton the Dust Devils ran for 493 yards in pounding the Vikings of South Tahoe 49-20 in the win. The win gives the Dust devils a record of 3-2 and 2-2 in league play while the Vikings drop to 2-3 overall and 0-3 in league.

Tyler Firestone who rushed for 227 yards on 13 carries also scored on a 90 yard run and an 81 yarder for his two touchdowns on the night. Jacob Stowell had 177 yards and a score for the Vikings who couldn’t do much more than that.

In Boulder City the Rattlers of Mojave High School beat the Eagles 25-22 and ended their 17 game losing streak. Bryant Lewis rushed for 195 yards and scored 4 touchdowns for the Rattlers while Xavier Steel rushed for 102 for the Eagles. Steele had one touchdown while quarterback Joe Miller was 5-9 and 76 yards passing for two touchdowns and three interceptions. The final pick was on the last Eagle possession giving the Rattlers the win.

Next week the Eagles and Bulldogs face off in Mesquite for the first league game and first place or last place.

In Mesquite, Virgin Valley took a lead at half time 36-6 over the Trojans from Pahrump in a complete domination over the 4A opponent during that half.

The same Dawgs held on for a 44-34 win after the Trojans scored 22 points in the final nine minutes to make the game close.

Quarterback A.J. Segura of Pahrump passed for 164 yards and four touchdowns for Pahrump whose record is now 1-3. As a team they rushed for 90 yards on the night and had 254 yards in total offense.

Virgin Valley was led by Thompson with 81 yards on the ground and Quarterback Urias gaining 77 and Bowler gaining 56 on the ground as well. The Bulldog air attack had 122 yards passing with Urias throwing 6-13 and Bowler completing 1-1.
