‘Knit/Crochet For Others’ Meeting To Be Held Saturday
The next in an ongoing series of “Knit/Crochet for Others” Meetings will be held on Saturday, October 8 at 10:30 AM in the Moapa Valley library. These meetings are being held the 2nd Saturday of each month.
Attendees get together to make hats and booties for newborn babies. These items are then donated to ‘Volunteer Angels”, an organization which distributes them to hospitals in the Las Vegas area.
The last meeting which was held on September 8 was a great success according to event coordinator Bev Qualheim of Logandale.
“In October we will be making hats, scarves, and adult sized mittens for the Homeless Veterans in Vegas, via the American Legion Auxiliary,” Qualheim said. “Attendees should please bring a size H crochet hook or size 8 knitting needles and your own yarn and join us as we help others.”
Qualheim has also set up a little wooden tree for people to be able to hang handmade donations on it. The tree is located at Qualheim Insurance office at 289 S. Moapa Valley Blvd in downtown Overton.
“Bring in your handmade baby items as well as kids hats, mittens and scarves and slippers for senior citizens,” she said. “You can also ask Mike Q. in the office for free patterns or get them at www.bevscountrycottage.com.”
