Outdoors Event in Logandale
The Las Vegas Women in the Outdoors chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation met in Logandale Park on September 29-30 for their second annual outdoor event. Many of the event’s participants came from the Las Vegas area, but some came from as far away as Spanish Fork and Tooelle, Utah to attend the event.

“This is really about keeping the outdoors alive to us and being in tune with our environment,” said Gail Kalena, a participant who had traveled from Tooelle, Utah for the event.

Moapa Valley Now Has Two Commissioners
The Clark County Commission completed reapportionment action this week, complying with state law which mandates after each national census all election districts must be virtually equal in population. As a result of redistricting, Bruce Woodbury will continue to represent Mesquite, Bunkerville, and most of the Overton area of Moapa Valley in District A. Commission Chairman Jay Bingham will now represent Moapa, Glendale, and the majority of the Logandale area of Moapa Valley in District B. The biggest change is that these rural areas will now have two commissioners to represent their interest in county government.

Kraft Buys Knudsen Dairy
Few changes are expected in the Knudsen Dairy plant in Logandale due to the recent sale of the plant.

“It looks very positive from what we know about it at this time,” stated Manager Ronald Openshaw. “We do expect we may increase in volume with the change over.”

Details of the sale have not yet been completed, but officials felt that the Nevada plant would be operated as a subsidiary of Kraft and Hughes.

The Las Vegas distribution plant handled cultured dairy by-products, fluid milk, and frozen ice cream.

“This sale is a major step forward in trying to solve the business problems of Knudsen,” officials stated.
