In the north at Winnemucca the Spring Creek Spartans came close to pulling off the upset but they still lost to the Lowry Buckaroos 13-7.
Jace Billingsley rushed for only 147 yards in a victory and had only 1 touchdown.
It was a kickers night as both kickers had two field goals apiece to complete the scoring.
Hoyos rushed for 140 yards as the Spartans drop to 3-3.
Last season the Spartans beat the Buckaroos in the regular season then lost to them in the quarter finals.
At Elko the Indians beat the Dayton Dust Devils 28-14 as they came back from being down 14-13 at half time. The loss ended a two game win streak for the Dust Devils.
Francisco Lievonos rushed for 232 yards and three touchdowns for the Indians who are now 4-3. Tyler Firestone rushed for 167 yards and both Dust Devil scores.
In a side note Zeth Skouse is the Elko High senior who collapsed in the Elko Fallon game three weeks ago. He is in a coma caused by a ruptured blood clot which is said not to be football related.
At Sparks the Railroaders finally got their first win of the season by beating the South Tahoe Vikings 28-21.
Jacob Stowell of South Tahoe rushed for 246 yards and 3 touchdowns in the first two quarters then came out in the 2nd and shut down Stowell and the Vikings to win. Brandon Harris intercepted a pass and took it 77 yards for a touchdown to bring the Railroaders back from a 13 point 2nd quarter led.
Stowell rushed for 326 yards on 33 carries.
At Fallon the Green Wave beat the Fernley Vaqueros 17-12 as Shawntrell Hubbard led Fallon with 192 yards and a touchdown. Fallon has won three straight games.
Fernley’s Ken Bradley threw for 19 yards and had a touchdown and an interception in the loss.
At Reno the Wolverines from Truckee made it 30 wins in a row as they beat Wooster 35-7. The win keeps the Wolverines in first place in the north as they are now 6-0 in league and overall.
Truckee rushed for 223 yards for the night and had 240 yards pass for 463 total yards. Quarterback Pat Shaffer also threw three touchdowns in the cause. Leading rusher was Graham Christian with 84 yards and two touchdowns.
Fallon travels to Truckee next Saturday to become the Wolverines 31 win. Then the streak will really be challenged as Truckee heads to Winnemucca for the game of the season when they face the Buckaroos and Jace Billingsley.
At Mesquite the Virgin Valley Bulldogs hosted the Green Valley Gators and saw a lot of Love in the Green Valley Victory 41-22. Aaron Love rushed for 157 yards and two touchdowns to bring the Gators back from trailing at 14-7 half time. The Gators record moved to 5-1 and 3-0 in the southwest.
The Bulldogs come to Moapa Friday.
At Western the Eagles of Boulder City finally have won their second game of the season as they beat the Western Warriors 28-13. Steel had 75 yards on 13 carries while Washburn had 10 carries for 70 yards each having a touchdown. Miller was 1 for passing for 27 yards.
Boulder City travels to Basic in Henderson Friday for their rivalry game.
