Locals Invited Hump N Bump Event At Logandale Station 73

The Vegas Valley 4 Wheelers (VV4W) will be holding its annual Hump N Bump event this weekend. Though the event has been running each year for over 30 years, this will be its fourth year in the Logandale Trails system.

The Hump N Bump event is expected to bring 300-400 prople and 150-200 four wheel drive vehicles to the local community. According to event organizer, Jeff Jorgensen, participants will come from all across the western states including Arizona, Utah, California and Nevada; as well as from further afield. Some even are coming as far as Germany, Jorgensen said.

The group camps at the Logandale Fairgrounds and uses it as the staging area for its activities. They then spend the weekend taking their vehicles out into the Logandale Trails area doing special trail rides and rock climb activities.

Jorgensen said that the VV4W has grown to love the Moapa Valley community over the past four years.

“We have felt a lot of community support from local businesses and individuals,” Jorgensen said. “We have increasingly used the local businesses to supply us with food and other needs for the event. And we love to involve the local public in our activities. People are welcome to come out and see what we do.”

This year the VV4W is teaming up with the Logandale Fire Station #73 to put on a special expo event on Friday evening from 4-9 p.m.. The event will be held in the empty field just south of Station #73, adjacent to the west Fairground parking lot.

The volunteers of Station 73 have set up a special obstacle course there which will stimulate some moderately challenging off-road conditions.

“We’ve been working hard to build this course,” said Station 73 chief Tim DeBerardinis. “Last week we were able to acquire some large rocks which have been placed out on our course. They should be good for rock crawling activities that the public will enjoy.”

The public is invited to come out on Friday evening and watch as Hump N Bump participants navigate the course. To make things interesting, the drivers will be blindfolded and guided by their co-pilot through the course. A flex ramp and teeter-totter will also test vehicles and challenge drivers skills.

But the local crowd aren’t necessarily limited to just watch the fun. They are also invited to bring their own 4×4 vehicles and try to navigate the course themselves, DeBerardinis said. To raise funds for Station 73, local participants will be asked to pay $20 to run the course themselves.

“But it won’t cost anything to come and watch,” DeBerardinis said.

There will also be a static display of 4X4’s by the Vegas Valley 4Wheelers Hump-N-Bump (H-N-B) participants for the public to enjoy. Delicious Italian food will also be available at the event catered by Bubba Brown Catering.
