Shelby Williams

Shelby John Williams, age 79, died Wednesday, October 26, 2011 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was born September 19, 1932 in Idalou, Texas to Clyde and Audrey Leo Jones Williams. On June 21, 1971, he married Alice Mabel Kellar Scacco in Overton, Nevada.

He grew up in Southern California, graduated from Huntington Beach High School in 1950 and entered the US Air Force in 1952. He later moved to Las Vegas, then for a time he lived in Moapa Valley while opening and working at the Reid Gardner Power Plant as a Superintendent. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and enjoyed serving in the temple. He will be remembered as a loving and caring father and husband.

Survivors include his wife, Alice of Las Vegas, NV; son, James “Jim” Williams of Logandale, NV; stepchildren: Paul Shaw of Las Vegas, NV; Gary (Jennene) Scacco of Overton, NV; Jennean Scacco of Las Vegas, NV; Tony Scacco of Overton, NV; daughter in law, Debbie Scacco of Logandale, grandson Matthew Williams; eleven grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and one sister, Doris Ore of Huntington Beach, CA.

Funeral services were held Monday, October 31, 2011 at the Chapel Heights Ward, 1825 N. Hollywood, Las Vegas, Nevada. Interment followed at at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Moapa Valley Mortuary.
