Blueberry facial – hydro massage – Mmmmmm – could it get any better? What? Oh! Sorry! I got caught up in the moment.
I was listening to Joyce Hamburg explain the steps of the dog grooming services offered in the Groom Room when I became distracted.
The dog is bathed, receives a hydro massage, shampooed, then given a blueberry facial, is fluff dried and is finished off with a trim. Then the toenails are trimmed, the ears cleaned and the glands expressed. As an added bonus the happy creature receives a bandanna or bow of its choice. All of the aforementioned is after they receive the “rough them in” pre-bath trim, if necessary.
For 15 years, Joyce Hamburg has been treating dogs to this loving care – from her beginning training at the Poodle Parlor Dog Grooming School in Las Vegas, to working for veterinarian Dr. Kris here in the Moapa Valley and having her own shop and now growing into new, bigger quarters. Assisting her is groomer Tammy McCutchen (who is also a pet setter) and Melanie Lanham.
As Joyce’s business grew she planned on obtaining a bigger place. When the opportunity came to move into 123 E. Thomas Ave., she jumped at it. On Tuesday, October 25, the dream became a reality when she opened the doors to the new location.
In the near future Hamburg plans on expanding to include a retail area and a Doggy Daycare service.
Sunny, a Corgi/Jack Russell mix, and her friends Mia and Bella, give the shop four paws up.
