LETTER: Mandatory Protection…. For A Fee
In the first several decades of the 1900’s there were a breed of ruthless vermin who thought that the real business men and businesses in a certain areas needed to be “protected”. For a “fee” (usually collected each week in person) they would offer protection to you and your business.
Of course the only protection you needed was from these thugs because if you did not pay them they would break something, usually a body part and the items inside your business. These people came to be known as “the mob” and were nothing more than ruthless, heartless and dangerous people.
The government (whether it is federal, state or local) not wanting to miss out on a money making opportunity looked at these thugs and said “you know these people really do need “protecting and we can do it.”
Thus was born Building Inspectors ($$), paid Fire Marshalls ($$), HUD ($$), FANNIE MAE ($$), FREDDIE MAC ($$) Food (Health) Inspectors ($$), Child Protective Services ($$), the Environmental Protection Agency ($$$), Consumer Protection Agency ($$), Transportation Safety Agency ($$$), Federal Reserve ($$$), SEC ($$$), OSHA ($$), unemployment ($$), Social Security ($$$), Medicare ($$$), Medicaid ($$$), Business licensing ($) to name a few. And yes my very favorite, the law makers themselves ($$$$).
For a fee (TAXES) you will be protected. All with the noble and just cause of protecting US from??. Each one was given “limited” power but ALL found ways to expand that power into invasion and intrusion into our freedom and a way to separate us from our hard earned money.
When did We the People become so inept at taking care of ourselves that we need protection?
Well, just like the business man the only “protection” we need is from the “protectors” themselves. In fact Constitutionally the only people the Government is allowed to protect us from is foreign enemies (our porous borders perhaps?).
There is one other facet to the debacle at Quail Hollow Farm that I feel needs to be addressed. That is the food at this event was considered guilty (of being tainted) until the Bledsoe’s could prove otherwise. The so-called inspector had no evidence or proof; it’s just that the Bledsoe’s could not prove their food was “not dangerous”.
Our justice system was originally founded on the principles that a person is “innocent until proven guilty”. The Bledsoes had to prove their food was fit to be eaten or else it had to be destroyed! This is an issue that has particularly hit very close to home with me and my family and is a principle that is very quickly disappearing from our fundamental values.
Perhaps you may feel that it will never be an issue in your life…but just like the Bledsoe’s found, it just might and it will be very devastating when it does.
“Elections have consequences” and We the People have elected to be our leaders people who do not necessarily have our best interest in mind. Please remember this as we enter another election season. Thank You.
