Lyon Middle School To Hold Student Showcase

W. Mack Lyon Middle School will open its doors to the community on Thursday, November 17 at 6:00 pm for its inaugural Students’ Showcase. With a theme titled “Learning Together!”, the event aims to recognize students who have distinguished themselves academically in the classroom throughout the first and second quarters of the school year.

“We are holding this event to welcome families to our school to see the amazing work that their children are doing,” said showcase organizer and 7th grade History teacher, Jared Meyer. “The Student Showcase represents a great opportunity for family members and friends to walk the campus and see for themselves the wonderful educational activities happening every day at our school.”

Student work will be displayed from all three grades, and awards will be given out to first, second, third, and fourth place winners. Classes involved include English, Science, Art, and Computers.

The Lyon Locomotion Dance Team, Jazz Band, Orchestra, and Cheer Squad will also have a chance to display their talents. School counselor, Ms. Delgadillo will be presenting a session on Bully Prevention called “Heroes in the Hallways.”

The Showcase opens in conjunction with Lyon’s Book Fair, which runs from November 17-23.

The Showcase will begin at 6:00 pm in the middle school gym with a welcome, followed by performances by the dance and cheer teams. The Showcase and Book Fair will end at 8:00 pm.
