The Moapa Valley Town Advisory Board (MVTAB) approved a series of minor changes to the Northeast Clark County Land Use Plan presented during a hearing held on Wednesday November 9.

County planner, Kevin Smedley, began by presenting proposed changes to the Transportation element for Logandale and Overton.

Smedley explained that a recently completed transportation element had marked a 200 foot right-of-way for Moapa Valley Blvd. all throughout the community. But the right-of-way for the State Highway is currently established at only 100 feet.

“We are proposing that, on the segment of the highway from the Mortuary to the north down to the Overton Wildlife Management Area to the south, the element be reduced from a 200 foot right-of-way to 100 feet,” Smedley said.

Smedley clarified that this would mean that the right of way would be set at 50 feet on either side of the center line.

A similar change was proposed for Paiute Street in the northern section of Logandale. The element lists Paiute as an 80 foot collector street. The proposed change would reduce that to a 60 foot street. Smedley said.

The MVTAB approved these proposed changes with a unanimous vote.

The changes proposed for the Land Use Plan were all of a minor nature. They mainly included a few house cleaning items where small parcels of land did not match their adjacent parcels.

Also several parcels which were the sites of churches, utility service buildings and other community institutional facilities; which had previously been designated under a Public Facilities (P-F) Land Use category; were recommended to be changed to a newly created Institutional category.

The board approved all of these proposed changes with unanimous votes.
