The W. Mack Lyon Drama class held its first production of the year last week on Wednesday and Thursday, December 7-8. There are two separate theater classes available at the middle school. Each class put on its own play that evening.

The first play was called “Pirates!” In this forty-five minute production, a crew of five girls raced a crew of five boys for the treasure hidden on Banana Island. What they didn’t realize was the captain of each crew were twins. In the end, they all found that the whole treasure map scenario was a setup, concocted by their dead parents to bring the twins back together.

The second play was called “Carol’s Christmas.” This play was a modern day update of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol.”

Carol, played by Autumn Boren, was the nowadays Scrooge character in the play. She was a rich, but miserly, teenager that refused to donate any money for Tim, who needed surgery on his knee.

She is visited by three spirits that convince her to change her ways.
