Sharing The Spirit Of Christmas

The Christmas Spirit is alive and well on the Moapa Indian Reservation in spite of the economic downturn in the southern Nevada region. Christmas decorations and lights aglow are lighting up the reservation this year thanks to five young men.

Calvin and Jeromy Shepard, Rick Daboda and David and Fabian Lee have taken it upon themselves to help decorate and hang lights for the elders, single mothers and anyone else that is unable to decorate for Christmas. All of this is being done with no thought of reward.

We at Moapa Christian Church and those on the reservation are very proud of these young men who have, without thought of personal gain, brought the Spirit of Christmas to their community. It is such a blessing to know that there are still people who have big hearts and want to share that gift with others.

We pray that none of us forget that Jesus is the reason for the season. It is not about the amount of gifts we get or give but about sharing our hearts with others.

We wish you all in the Moapa Valley a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year in 2012.
