LETTER: Blessed To Live In Overton

Where but in Overton, Nevada would the following ever happen? The following is an example of why we feel so strongly about this:

Yesterday Howard and I decided to take a short stroll down Moapa Valley Blvd. The sun was shining in January. There were people waving back at us from their cars. There were smiles everywhere we went. What a pleasure!

Because of our health we only walked as far as Sugar’s, turned around and headed for home. Not having done so in a long time, I suggested we stop in at “The Scoop” and buy an ice cream cone. I had no purse with me, but Howard looked in his wallet and found a $10 bill, so I thought, “Great! Free sailing”.

An attractive tall, dark haired young lady waited on us. When Howard extended the money to her I realized he had been mistaken; it was only a five dollar bill. I had already taken a couple of bites off my cone!

I told her where we lived and asked if we could go home, get the money and come back to pay for our cones. She was so kind and said it would be fine. We did as we said we would.

All the while I kept thinking, just as I have many times, God certainly blessed us when He sent us to Overton.

So, let’s all get out there and make this year a special year for everyone we know and everyone we meet.

Howard and Ruth Cragun
