LETTER: Local Service You Can Depend On
There may not be much that people can depend on in the world these day. We live our lives with the expectation of what is here today will probably be gone tomorrow and we accept that. We hardly seem to flinch when a new business opens then quickly folds. It’s just the way it is, a sad fact of the economy. Or perhaps it’s the costly loopholes breaking down business owners before the doors are even unlocked.
So when a new business does actually make it to opening day, we already are making bets on how long it will last. Thankfully there are those business owners who dig their heals in, commit to their vision and work even harder to make sure they survive anything thrown in their direction.
This kind of fortitude is what Sugar’s Home Plate was built on and why it has been a fixture of the Moapa Valley community for 20 some years. Judy Metz and her dedicated staff are some of the friendliest people you will ever be blessed to know. Sugar’s patrons are always made to feel a part of the family, most even known by name. It is a common question to hear “The usual (insert name here)?”
How many places do any one of us go where we feel that kind of kinship with a business? It truly is a rare and treasured thing these days.
Even more rare is the fact that the food served at Sugar’s is always top quality and delicious. Judy knows what it takes to survive in any situation, and does so with a strong commitment to her patrons, her community and all of it is served up with a heaping helping of integrity.
Maybe we can’t depend on much these days, but one thing is for sure, Sugar’s Home Plate is not about to go anywhere any time soon, not if their loyal customers have anything to say about it!
