LETTER: My Family Still Won’t Go
Sugars recently got a C rating by the Health Department (SNHD Inspection Hits Overton Restaurant Favorite With Violations: Progress, Jan. 4, 2012). Did you know, though? They were one demerit away from closing. Shocking the stuff they don’t tell you in newspapers.
What they did tell you is that they used old butter containers for storage.
Not all the storage, mind you, but a good portion. They did that for 20 years though, and it apparently was “never a problem before”.
The way I took how Metz stated the violations was that “they usually do it right but that day they messed up”.
EVERYTHING happened on that one day? Really? If you had been doing everything right (like thawing the meat in water like you “usually do”) then the grade would be a low A or a high B and not a very low C.
Sugars used to be great; I know. I loved it there. Slowly, though, the food became lower quality and the prices soared. We don’t eat there anymore.
And until the rating goes up, the food gets better and maybe when the prices go down, my family still won’t go.
