The Moapa Valley Telephone Company (MVT) is now offering increased internet speeds.
MVT has recently created a whole set of new bundles in an effort to be more competitive in the internet service provider market. In many cases, these bundles offer customers the opportunity to upgrade internet speeds at nearly the same price as lesser speed programs elsewhere.
In addition to the increased internet speeds, MVT also offers a variety of other internet services at no additional charge, including an anti-virus program, online backup, and password genie.
“We haven’t done a great job getting the message out as to the value of our services,” Brad Lyon, internet services manager at MVT, stated. But he emphasized that the local company’s internet package, and its additional products are a great value for the price.
“We’ve invested a lot to build a local system to have a capacity to meet the needs of the future,” Lyon said. “When we first started [in the internet market], we had a link into Las Vegas that I thought we’d never outgrow. We outgrew that in seven or eight years.”
MVT has upgraded its DSL lines in most areas of the Moapa Valley to fiber optics, which have almost unlimited capacity, Lyon said. The company strives to prepare its network for everything the internet is throwing at it, including streaming video, Lyon said.
“Our internet capacity is about twenty times what it was here twenty years ago – that’s the capacity we have,” Lyon stated.
In addition to the speed increase, MVT places no caps on downloaded content.
“Our bundles are competitive in price with other local ISP’s,” Lyon continued. “In many cases our service is actually less because of the added telephone services bundled in with it.”
If you currently have an internet bundle, MVT suggests you compare your existing bundle to the new offerings listed on the company’s website at www.mvdsl.com. In most cases, the new faster bundles will cost less than your current bundle. If you have any questions or want to change your service, MVT suggests calling their office at 397-2601.
