Brittney Nuanez is the new dean of students at Moapa Valley High School.

Moapa Valley High School welcomed a new Dean of Students during the Christmas Break. Brittney Nuanez transferred to the school from Las Vegas where she has taught for the past 12 years.

Nuanez was a math teacher at Foothill High School for 10 years and a math teacher and academic director for 2 ½ years at Sunrise.

Nuanez was born in Syracuse, N.Y. where she was awarded a scholarship for softball to Western Michigan University at Kalamazoo, Michigan, where she majored in mathematics. She then ventured to the Southwest and earned her Masters in Education Administration at the University of Phoenix in Las Vegas.

Nuanez is married and has one daughter – 2 ½ year old Rylee. Her in-laws live in Overton – Carlos and Vickie Nuanez. Mother-in-law Vickie is a medical liaison at Bowler Elementary in Bunkerville.

Nuanez says that she is still in the chaotic beginnings of her new position and continues to learn of the many duties assigned to her position at Moapa Valley High School. These include: student discipline, testing, supervising teachers, school newsletter and athletic supervision.

Nuaniez said that she is very enthusiastic about her new position and about living in the Moapa Valley. She said that she hopes to have a supportive and positive impact with the students and their parents.

She is replacing former dean of students, Tracy Cardinal who was recently married and has moved out of the area.
