LETTER: Courtesy Of Local Students Noticed

On Wednesday, Jan. 11, my wife and I were witness to something that everyone should experience at least once in their lifetime.

We went shopping in Mesquite and decided to go to a restaurant for lunch. We were seated near a group of youngsters. To our surprise it was four teachers/helpers and 7 or 8 of the mentally challenged students from right here in Moapa Valley.

The main point I would like to make is how well these children behaved. We have been in the same restaurant before when other groups of “normal” children were there and you could not hear yourself think. They were up running around, and out of control.

The children we had the privilege of seeing there last week were in control, talking quietly and showed respect for all other people in the restaurant.

Our hats are off to these kids and to the people who were with them. You have to love these special children and hope that God has reserved a special place in Heaven for them and the people who devote their time and lives to help them get through this difficult world.
