Recruiting A Local Team Now To Run For A Wish
Moapa Valley residents are being encouraged to help put a local team together for the 11th Annual Run For A Wish, hosted by Kendall Tenney. The 5K run or 1 mile walk is held in Las Vegas next month to benefit the Make A Wish Foundation of Southern Nevada.
“Last year our team, Team MOAPA VALLEY, raised enough funds to grant a local boy his wish!” said team leader Natalie Jacobsmeyer of Overton. “What an amazing thing that was. We are hoping to do that and more this year.”
Last year’s team was the third largest in the event with about 120 participants. The team also was about the 8th most successful fundraising team out of a field of approximately 200 teams, Jacobsmeyer said.
“Our goal is to surpass that this year,” Jacobsmeyer said. “This is an event for the whole family. Kids love participating in this event, and this event is for kids!”
Those interested in being a part of the team can go to www.runforawish.org to sign up.
The date for the race is Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 8:00 am at Town Square in Las Vegas. Those unable to make that date can still sign up and be part of the team, Jacobsmeyer said. “Virtual walkers are welcome,” she said.
All funds raised go to grant wishes for children with life threatening illnesses. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to call Natalie Jacobsmeyer, team captain at 397-2507.
