Southern 3A Boys

Boulder City hosted Cheyenne on Friday night. The Desert Shield beat the Eagles 68-56. Boulder Cities Austin Morgan had 15 points to lead the Eagles. Kaleb Bailey had 14.

Cheyenne who will play Moapa in the Pirates final game of the season was led by Khalid Banks with 15 points and Bryan Lewis who had 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Boulder City drops to 14-8 on the season and will host Virgin Valley next Friday. Boulder is also 1-0 in league play and in 1st place.

Northern 3A Boys

Lowry had a seven game win streak rolling into this week and after three games it ended at nine. The Buckaroos started the week hosting Spring Creek where they dominated the Spartans 79-55.

They traveled first to Battle Mountain and won by twenty 55-35. Then on Saturday traveled east and were beaten by the Elko Indians 60-49.

Lowry is 14-4 on the season. They make the trip east again this week in Ely against White Pine Friday, West Wendover Saturday.

Sparks is 12-4 and riding a 4 game win streak. They played at North Tahoe and destroyed the Lakers 58-21.

Elko is the hottest team this week as they have won 10 in a row. They beat Battle Mountain 69-23 then White Pine 69-39 then Lowry 60-49. Elko is 14-5 on the season and is in 1st place in the Ruby Mountain pod.

Truckee is 7-7 and riding a 4 game win streak. The Wolverines beat North Tahoe 67-38 then beat Whittle 60-35 at home.

Fernley is 8-10 this season and beat ROP 81-76. They host Fallon and travel to Lovelock this week.

South Tahoe is 8-10 this season they beat Whittle 54-28 and lost to 61-58 both on the road.

Dayton hasn’t won a game since the middle of December and was winless last week with a loss to Lovelock.

Spring Creek last week lost to Lowry 79-55 and beat White Pine 74-72 in Ely. This week they host Battle Mountain and travel over the hill to Elko.

Fallon is 3-11. Last week they played three games and ended their 8 game losing streak. They lost to Yerington 71-66 then beat Silver Stage 57-48.

Northern 3A Girls

Lowry played Spring Creek in the game of the week. Lowry came into the game with one loss and in a first place tie with Spring Creek. Spring Creek went home in first all by themselves as they destroyed the Buckaroos in Winnemucca 58-31.

The defending state champions lead at the half 24-13 then opened the game up in the 3rd with 17 points in the quarter to Lowry’s 11. In the 4th quarter Spring Creek scored 17 more and held Lowry to 7 to coast to the win.

Lowry played at Battle Mountain and beat the Longhorns 42-26 then Elko gave the Buckaroos their second loss of the week 57-51. Lowry is now 12-3 and 2-2 in pod play.

Fernley beat Dayton 41-31 in their only game last week.

Truckee is 7-5 and on a 4 game win streak and beat North Tahoe in North Tahoe 51-27 then the Wolverines beat Whittle 60-19 in a big time blow out.

Spring Creek is the hottest team in the girls 3A and has improved their record to 11-8 with a huge victory over Lowry.

They played at White Pine and won 68-41. Then they destroyed West Wendover 55-7. Spring creek has won 9 in a row. They are peaking at just the right time and now become the favorites to win it all.

Dayton is 9-9 with their back to back loses to Fernley 41-31 then at Lovelock 66-26.

Elko is on a roll with 6 straight wins and is 9-9 with a big win against Lowry 57-51 then White Pine 63-49 then Battle Mountain 67-27.

Fallon is 7-9 with a win at home against Silver Stage 40-29.

South Tahoe beat Whittle 51-34 then lost to Incline at Incline 58-46.

Sparks is 0-9 this week is at Whittle then host Incline and Truckee.

Southern 3A Girls

Boulder City played one game last week against the Cheyenne Desert Shields and beat Cheyenne 60-50. Boulder City outscored the Shields 30-17 in the first half then continued to score enough for the win as Cheyenne tried to make a comeback in the second half. Ybarra scored 25 points for Boulder City to pace the Eagles. Brown lead Cheyenne with 14 points. Cheyenne will be Moapa’s final home game this season in a couple weeks.

Boulder is now 17-4 on the season and will host Virgin Valley next week for first place in the region. They now have the best record in the state.
