Moapa Valley Progress
Southern 3A Boys
Boulder City is running away with the south. Unless Virgin Valley or Moapa can muster up some shots and make some baskets it will be the Eagles in Reno for a chance at the state title.
The Eagles last week beat Mojave High School 57-35 then Vo-Tech 71-35 giving themselves a three game winning streak heading into the final week of the regular season. They will play against both Moapa Valley and Virgin Valley on the road.
Bailey and Hafen each are averaging 11 points a game on the season and lead a well-balanced Eagle attack. As a team they are averaging 59 points per game and have a record of 17-8. The Eagles are the top seed in the south with a 2-0 record in league play.
Northern 3A Boys
Lowry is 17-5 on the season beating Spring Creek 79-59 at Spring Creek then hosted Battle Mountain and dismantled the Long Horns by 42, 69-27 last week.
Sparks is also 17-5 and on a 4 game winning streak. They beat South Tahoe 55-40 on the road then beat Truckee at home 51-40. Sparks is the top seed in the Mount Rose pod.
Elko is 18-6 and was beaten by West Wendover 55-49 then barely beat White Pine 39-37 in Ely. They have a tough road ahead as they play on the road at Lowry then at Spring Creek to finish the regular season.
Dayton has caught fire at the right time and is on a 5 game win streak; the longest in the 3A. Last week the Dust Devils beat Yerington 61-55 then Fallon 59-49 Dayton is in 2nd place in the Lahontan Pod behind Fernley.
Fernley is 12-11 and beat Silver Stage 54-44 in their only game last week.
With wins against Dayton and Fallon this week they might be the top seed and host a playoff game for the chance at the state title.
Truckee is 10-10 and beat North Tahoe last week 60-29 then traveled to Sparks where Sparks beat them 51-40.
South Tahoe lost to Sparks in their only game last week. The Vikings are 10-12.
Spring Creek is 9-16 and lost to White Pine last week 63-53.
Fallon lost to Dayton last week 59-49. Fallon is 4-16 this season.
Southern 3A Girls
Boulder City has the best record in the 3A at 20-4 as they are steam rolling all comers. Last week they continued their win streak by beating Mojave High School 61-20 and Vo-Tech 63-24. This week they will finish their regular season at Moapa and Virgin Valleys. The Eagles are proving to be a state contender which has been dominated by the north for many years.
Northern 3A Girls
Lowry beat Battle Mountain 63-20 then lost to a very tough Lovelock team 67-49.
Truckee has a nine game win streak going and has the 3rd best record in the 3A at 12-5. They beat North Tahoe and Sparks last week.
Spring Creek beat White Pine last week 63-39 and will finish the regular season at Battle Mountain then hosts Elko. A win in Battle Mountain and a four point win or more over Elko will give the Spartans a home game in the tournament. A three point win or less or a loss and an Elko win over Lowry will make them travel in the tournament. Spring Creek is at 16-9 on the season.
Fernley beat Silver Stage 58-34 last week. Fernley is at 14-8 on the season.
Elko will finish their regular season at Lowry and at Spring Creek. A sweep and they will host a playoff game. The Indians have won 12 in a row and are at 15-8 on the season.
Fallon is 11-10 this season.
South Tahoe is 8-13 on the season and beat Sparks 56-44.
