Team MOAPA VALLEY gathered 86 team members to participate in the Run For A Wish event held in Las Vegas earlier this month.

The 11th Annual Run For a Wish was held on February 4 in Las Vegas. Funds were raised to support Make A Wish of Southern Nevada, a non profit organization that benefits kids with life threatening illnesses.

Team MOAPA VALLEY, made up of local residents, was able to turn out 86 participants in the event.

“There were 120 teams entered in the event,” said Team MOAPA VALLEY coordinator, Natalie Jacobsmeyer. “We were the 12th highest of them in fundraising, raising a total of $1,846 as a team. And e were the 6th largest team there.

About 1/3 of the team ran the 5K for time while the others walked the 1 mile, Jacobsmeyer said.

“Two of our participants actually placed in the 5K race in their age category,” Jacobsmeyer said.

Skyler Whipple placed 1st, and Ashley Noto placed 4th. Both were given medals for their accomplishment.
