The Moapa Valley Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting ceremony at an open house celebration for a new tour-staging area south of Overton on Thursday night, March 22.
Owners and operators of the locally-based tour company, Awesome Adventures were pleased to open the new facility, located off of Magnasite Road, to the public for the evening.
About a hundred people from both the Moapa Valley and the Mesquite Chambers of Commerce attended the evening event where dinner was served under a lit pavilion. Live music was provided by Mason Cottam of Cedar City, Utah.
Attendees were able to ride on the newly opened zip line which takes off from the top of a nearby bluff and speeds down to the wash below. Other activities in the area also include a ropes course and rapelling wall, as well as archery and target shooting areas. The spot is a staging area for Awesome Adventures guided ATV tours, kayaking adventures on the nearby Lake Mead and canyoneering adventures in Valley of Fire State Park.
“We are bringing on average 30-40 people per day from Las Vegas through the Moapa Valley community to this location,” said Jill Williams of Awesome Adventures.
“It is nice to see things opening in the Valley for a change,” said Moapa Valley Chamber President Carol Bishop who was in attendance at the ribbon-cutting event. “And there is no doubt that this business, that brings so many people through the Moapa Valley from the outside, is a good thing for the community.”
Local residents are welcome to book the Awesome Adventures facility for parties and family get-togethers. To make reservations call Awesome Adventures at 800-519-2243.
