The Annual Spring Bazaar at the Senior Center was held on Saturday, March 24. Getting an early start at 8:00 a.m. vendors set up tables and displays.

Overton Senior Center Director Christine Trombley said that she and her team had prepared all week for the event. She made signs, asked local businesses and others to donate gift cards, and put flyers out around the community.

“Outside vendors came in to sell homemade goods, crafty things, massages, and baked goods,” said Trombley.

In the past, vendors from Las Vegas and Mesquite have come to the Bazaar. “Because of the Community Yard Sale last weekend it has been slow” Trombley said.

Ann Snow and Nancy Smith manned a booth that had trinkets that had been donated by people for sale at the Bazaar.

“These are things that people hand-make throughout the year, and sell them here at the Bazaar” Snow said.

Nicole Hartman is a massage therapist that had a table set up. She was selling massages for $1 per minute. Hartman just started a business here in Overton giving at-home massages to people that have a hard time leaving their home.

“Whether it be the elderly or a busy mother that can’t find a babysitter” said Hartman.

Joyce Lyon brought her Pampered Chef and Nature’s Beauty products. “I haven’t had any sales yet this morning, but I just want to get my business out there for people to see,” Lyon said.

Jerry and Carol Kuykendall have been making wooden figurines for 15 years. Jerry cuts the wood and Carol paints them. They had been successful selling their wares and enjoyed meeting people.

Carol Schreiner and Louis Dusky had big success with their bake sake. “A lot of people donated food and it has gone quickly,” said Schreiner.

Visitors to the Bazaar had the opportunity to buy raffle tickets for a variety of prizes. The raffle booth was manned by Grant Swanson who had crafted a hand-made walking stick as one of the prizes. His wife, Pat Swanson and other ladies at the Senior center had made the top prizes of the raffle, two beautiful hand-made quilts. Other prizes included gift cards to Lins Marketplace, True Value Home Hardware, Overton Ace Hardware, Logandale Tire, Overton Auto Repair, Shear Heaven salon, Inside Scoop, a bakeware set donated by Wes and Lita Fisher and homemade candies made by LeVon Seline. Winners of the raffle got to choose which prize they wanted.
